On this Roasters Guild & Barista Guild Origin Trip to Costa Rica, you'll learn about different aspects of the coffee supply chain and get a look at some of the most cutting edge coffee production techniques in Costa Rica. The group will also visit some local cafes and get a taste of the coffee culture in this remarkable country. We hope you'll join us for this one-of-a-kind opportunity.

We are sure that you will find this trip to be an exciting and educational getaway that you will be glad you attended. It will give you the opportunity to visit various coffee farms and experience the beauty of Costa Rica in person. In addition, this trip will provide an opportunity for you to share experiences with fellow members on both a personal and professional level.

The registration fee includes 7 nights lodging including hotel taxes and service charges, at least two meals per day, all ground transportation, and all guides and tours. Attendees are responsible for reservation and payment of their own flight arrangements into and out of San Juan, Costa Rica -Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO).

Refund / Cancellation policy:

When the SCA arranges for transportation, accommodations, or participation in other functions and events by the trip participants, once a reservation is made and payment is tendered by participant for said reservation, should that trip participant elect to subsequently cancel his or her participation in the event, regardless of the amount of notice given, no refund will be given, except at the discretion of the SCA or according to advertised refund policies. SCA reserves the right to cancel any trip at any time before departure; in such event all payments received will be refunded. In any event of cancellation, whether by the participant or SCA, SCA is not responsible for costs or losses associated with the purchase of non-refundable, advance purchase airline tickets, or any transportation and hotel costs outside of SCA Origin Trip package.

PLEASE NOTE: The account with which you are using to register must be under the name of the person who is attending the SCA Origin Trip. If you would like to register someone other than yourself, please create an account for that person or log-in under their personal account. All of these actions can be done by visiting and clicking LOGIN. Then, either fill out the New Visitor Registration and request to have the individual linked to your organization to receive SCA member pricing, or login using the attendee's email and password if they are already set up in the SCA system.

What's included in the registration fee?

Seven (7) nights lodging while in Costa Rica (February 18 - February 24, departing on on February 25) including hotel taxes and service charges, all ground transportation and three meals per day. Coffee education itinerary, guides and tour coordinators. Rooms will be shared based on gender. Flights and travel expenses to and from Costa Rica are not included. Attendees are responsible for reservation and payment of their own flight arrangements to and from Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO).

Final itinerary details will be sent out two weeks prior to the commencement of the tour. The group will fly into San Jose on February 18. You can arrive any time of day, but we recommend you get in to San Juan before mid-afternoon so the group can meet for dinner.

Visa Information: A visa is not required for US Citizens for a stay of up to 90 days. Traveler must be in possession of a passport valid for 6 months beyond stay and a round-trip airline ticket.  To enter Costa Rica, you will need: (1) Passport Requirements: Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page available for visa stamp(s). (2) Proof Of Departure: Confirmed round-trip or onward airline ticket.
